The whole story of Alice is built on the fact that no matter how hard you try, if you don't succeed in catching a glimpse of Alice, then she will be gone forever. But what does this expression mean? In the world of Alice, there are two kinds of time: Time for those who live outside of Wonderland and Time for those who live inside Wonderland.
In the world outside of Wonderland, there is no such thing as "Time". You can move as fast as you want or as slow as you want. As long as you don't trip over a rabbit hole and go inside the world of Wonderland, then you don't have any problems with time.
In the world of Wonderland however, everything is different. For example: If a person lives inside the White Rabbit's house, then that person has a clock on his or her table. If they leave home at six o'clock in the morning, they will arrive at six o'clock in the evening at their destination.
